Parabola Films was founded by Sarah Spring and Selin Murat in order to bring critical filmmaking voices to a broad audience.

Founded in 2010 by Sarah Spring and Selin Murat, Parabola Films operates as a boutique film production company, producing high quality author-driven documentary projects for festivals, theatrical releases and television. Parabola Films has positioned itself as a production company that works with directors with a distinct visual and narrative approach and its filmmakers push the boundaries of documentary storytelling in compelling and creative ways. Parabola’s films are consistently programmed at prestigious national and international film festivals and Parabola has participated in major documentary markets in France, Argentina, China, the UK, Turkey, Colombia, and the Netherlands. Current projects in development are stemming from London, Berlin, Croatia and Istanbul as well as Montreal and Moncton.  Aside from running Parabola Films, co-founders Sarah Spring and Selin Murat are deeply committed to the documentary filmmaking community. Sarah Spring is president of the Board of Montreal’s A list documentary film festival, Les Rencontres Internationales du Documentaire de Montréal and is a long-standing member of the board of Doc Québec, the provincial chapter of the Documentary Organization of Canada. Selin Murat is on the board of Spectrum Productions, a non-profit that works in audiovisual media with youth on the Autism spectrum and mentors young filmmakers for the FCTNM, Quebec’s Women in Film, Television and New Media chapter.
