“I am a huge fan of Documentaries and No Ordinary Man takes it to the next level. The film is a portrait of Billy Tipton, the influential jazz musician who was revealed after his death to have been transgender. It’s insightful, educational and wildly entertaining all at the same time. While talking heads and archival materials are a part of the film, it’s the unique aspect of utilizing “auditions” by trans actors vying to play the role of Billy Tipton, that elevates this documentary into a must see adventure. It’s a bonus if you are a fan of early jazz, but even if you are not, this film will dazzle you.”
